Bifurcation in a Flow-Induced Vibration Model

This is paper no. 9 in the list on p. gif. This is probably my most significant paper in engineering mathematics. It resolved an open problem in semi-empirical modelling for flow-induced vibration problems, by showing that even the simple Hartlen-Currie model predicts phase jumps in the response curves (previous approximate analytical and numerical solutions had failed to detect these though they have been experimentally observed), and provided a foundation for the thesis work of one of my students, Anne-Marie E. Allison.
