How to reach the Conference site at Helsinki University of Technology
|
From the Helsinki-Vantaa airport
|
There are two different kinds of taxis at the airport:
regular and airport taxis. Regular taxis are rather
expensive (approximately 150 FIM to Otaniemi) but fast.
Taxis to downtown Helsinki from the airport are almost
as expensive as a ride from the airport to Otaniemi.
Airport taxi usually takes several persons at a time
(with different destinations) and is therefore slower
but also less expensive (50-80 FIM per person).
If you wish to use public transport, there is an express
bus (Finnair) from the airport to the main railway station
in downtown Helsinki. Ticket costs about 30 FIM (one-way) and
schedules
are also available.
Regular bus lines from the airport to downtown Helsinki are
the cheapest way to travel (bus number 615 whose schedules are
here).
Ticket costs about 17 FIM.
|
From Helsinki to Otaniemi (Espoo) by bus
|
Busses from downtown Helsinki to Otaniemi leave from the Kamppi
bus station, which is about 400 meters to the west from the main
railway station. Lines 102 and 103 go directly to Otaniemi in
about 15 minutes. You can also use lines 194 and 195, which are
a bit slower. Busses leave from the platforms number 50 and 51.
To travel by bus from downtown Helsinki to Otaniemi, you need
a regional ticket ("seutulippu"). Single ticket costs 17 FIM and
a 10 trip ticket 125 FIM. Single tickets can be bought from the
bus driver. To read more about the fare and the public transport
system, see the
Helsinki City Transport
homepage.
If you come to Otaniemi by bus, the bus stop closest to the
conference site Dipoli is in front of the university library
on the street "Otaniementie", right after the little shopping
center on the right hand side.
Further instructions on how to get to HUT can be found from
HUT pages.
Maps from the Helsinki capital region are provided by the city of
Helsinki.
