Accommodation

We kindly ask you to reserve your rooms directly. The conference hotel is the Radisson SAS hotel in Espoo/Otaniemi. The Radisson SAS hotel is located just a few hundred meters away from the conference site.

We have reserved rooms for conference and summer school guests at the Radisson SAS and at Hostel Academica (downtown Helsinki). When you call/fax them, please mention that you are going attend "Physics meets biology."

  • In summertime, Helsinki is a very popular tourist destination. We strongly recommend booking a room well in advance - we have reserved a limited number of rooms and they will be booked on first-come-first-served basis.

  • Currency conversion: One Finnish mark is about 0.33 DM

Radisson SAS Espoo:

Located in Otaniemi a few hundred meters away from the conference venue. Most of the rooms have a seaview. In the hotel there is a sauna department with a swimming pool.
  • Single room: 510 FIM (about 170 DM) per night
  • Double room: 660 FIM (about 220 DM) per night
The prices include breakfast, morning sauna and swimming.

Hostel Academica:

We have also reserved rooms at Hostel Academica in downtown Helsinki. There are several frequent bus lines operating between Helsinki and the conference location in Otaniemi (Espoo). The busride takes about 15 minutes and costs 16 FIM (1 FIM = 0.33 DM).

Hostel Academica (address: Hietaniemenkatu 14/Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 29): The rooms have a shower, toilet, and a small kitchen

  • Single room: 240-320 FIM(about 80-105 DM) per night
  • Double room: 340-450 FIM (about 115-150 DM) per night
  • Room with 3 beds: 420 FIM (about 140 DM) per night
  • Room with 4 beds: 500 FIM (about 165 DM) per night

Hostel Satakuntatalo

A student hostel in the immediate vicinity of the main bus station. No private facilities in the rooms. There is a restaurant in the hostel.

Eurohostel

Modestly priced hostel in Helsinki. Every floor has a kitchen, shower room, and toilets. There is a sauna on the top floor. Eurohostel can be reached with streetcar number 4 departing from the city centre - about 10 minutes from the main bus station.
