Density Functional Theory - Some Interesting Questions

Jim Talman

University of Western Ontario

Abstract

Density functional theory is a very extensively used tool in molecular and condensed matter calculations. In this talk, the basic theory will be reviewed, and some problems of principle will be described. The challenges in developing extensions of the theory will be reviewed. In addition, the practical problems of implementation of the theory will be discussed.
